Facebook can be quite annoying in how they present your album in the NewsFeed. They continually change without notice or warning GRRR (rant over)! These albums are from Sportsgirl and as you can see Facebook present these albums in different ways. Wouldn’t it be great if this was an option that Facebook gave us all. All in all, Sportsgirl are doing a great job online and their Facebook albums are executed well, take notes and learn from these guys!
The best way forward is to not think to hard about how this will appear in your communities NewsFeed, but focus on the individual images within the album.
I’m constantly seeing brands put in images of all different sizes, here’s another free tip for you.
Your images need to be consistent, I suggest square. 1200 x 1200 will work on all devices from mobile to the big mac desktop screens. Make sure the focus of your image is in the centre. If it’s products they should sit in the centre of the image.
Albums are generating more organic reach than single image posts, you need to get these right from a branding and customer experience.
Below is an album from Oakley, whilst the content is great there’s an opportunity to improve their overall execution.
This is a simple fix. If the images were square the products wouldn’t be in this position and would look much more appealing in their communities NewsFeed. If square you would see the entire sunglasses in each image.
Each image should be carefully considered and should all have image copy that’s specific to the content. If there are links specific to that image then this should also be included in the copy.
